The Home Depot Health Advocate Team
- Facing high medical bills?
- Can't afford to make your payments?
- Need help understanding charges on your medical bill?
The Health Advocate team is a great resource to help you stretch your health care dollars. This program is available to all Home Depot associates and their immediate family members.
Here is how Health Advocate can help:
- Health Advocate’s Claims Specialists can can assist you with reviewing the charges incurred for health care procedures and ensure you understand the charges.
- Health Advocate can help to resolve claims issues, by working with the health plan and providers to ensure that a claim is processed appropriately.
- Through the Health Advocate's MAX Fee Negotiator Program, the program’s Health Care Cost Specialists will review your claim, and if applicable, they will attempt to negotiate a reduction in the balance due.* If a savings can be negotiated, a percentage of the savings will be retained as payment for the service.
An example of the MAX Fee Negotiator at work:
While on vacation, Marla required care at an emergency center. The ambulance took her to the closest hospital which was not in her health plan’s network. The tests and procedures performed totaled more than $60,000. Although her health plan covered the expenses at the in-network benefit level, Marla panicked at the sight of the bill because she knew she could not afford to pay the remaining member balance. As a result, she contacted the Health Advocate Team and was connected with a Specialist. The Specialist was able to save the associate a significant amount off the unusual charges as the provider agreed to accept a lower fee of $40,072 as payment in full. The savings for the associate’s out-of-pocket medical expenses was more than $20,000.

* Please note that a Health Care Cost Specialist can not negotiate a reduction in the balance due related to your member responsibility (such as your copayment, deductible, or coinsurance amount due to in-network providers) based on the plan coverage provided by your Home Depot medical plan.
